Bennie

When Bennie turns eighteen, he draws a line. The boy with Down syndrome sets his toy tent on fire. His message is clear: he wants a life of his own, free from the protective walls his family has built around him. What starts as a seemingly stubborn protest unleashes a profound confrontation within the family. While Bennie remains steadfast, his parents, sister and brother are confronted with their own fears, choices and hidden desires. It is the starting point of a moving and confrontational search for freedom, understanding and the complex dynamics of living together with a loved one with an intellectual disability.
